About

I spent 15 years inside the pressure. Now I help leaders work with it.

I'm Luca — a strategy and operations leader turned Energy Leadership coach. I work with the people who hold organizations together, and who too often pay for it quietly.

Luca Casablanca, executive and energy coach

15 years at Google · Certified coach (iPEC · ELI-MP) · Cornell Psychology of Leadership

For most of my career I was the reliable one — the person who absorbed the pressure and delivered anyway — until I learned, the hard way, that the setting I led from was quietly costing me what mattered most. Coaching is how I help other leaders change it before it costs them the same.

For 15 years I led strategy and operations at Google — starting in Dublin, working across Italian and international markets, and eventually running Revenue Strategy & Operations out of the Bay Area. I built operating models, launched global programs, and steered teams through more re-orgs than I can count. I was, by most measures, good at it.

I was also, for long stretches, running on empty. The scope kept growing, the pace never let up, and the way I'd been taught to lead — absorb everything, be the most reliable person in the room, out-work the ambiguity — quietly stopped working. More effort produced less. And the people who got the tired, depleted version of me weren't my stakeholders. They were the people I love.

The skills that get you the bigger job are often the exact ones you have to unlearn to survive it.

That realization sent me toward coaching. I trained through iPEC and earned my certification as an Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner (ELI-MP) — a framework for understanding how leaders actually show up under stress, and how to shift it. I've since deepened that work with the Psychology of Leadership program at Cornell, and I'm pursuing my ICF credential as my coaching hours accumulate. I'm transparent about where I am on that path, because you deserve to know exactly who you're working with.

What I believe about performance

High performance and a full life are not a trade-off you're doomed to lose. Most leaders treat their own energy as an infinite input and their calendar as an immovable object. It's the reverse. When you learn to lead from a different internal setting — less reactive, more deliberate — the work gets better and lighter. That's not a wellness platitude; it's the pattern I've watched play out, in myself and in the people I coach.

How I show up as a coach

Direct, warm, and allergic to jargon. I'll ask the question you've been avoiding, and I'll sit with you while you answer it. I use the ELI as a shared map so we're never just trading opinions — we're working from something real. And because I've actually lived the matrixed, cross-cultural, always-on world you're in, you won't spend half our sessions explaining your context to me.

A few things that make me, me

I work across cultures and languages — I've built my career spanning Italy, Ireland, and the US. I co-founded a small business on the side, so I understand building something from nothing. And my own philosophy is the one I coach from: I'm not interested in helping anyone become a more efficient workaholic. I want you to be genuinely good at your job and genuinely present for your life.
